Sebastian Anthony writes a thought provoking article this week in Extreme Tech. By the end of this year, Google anticipates launching Android powered Google Glasses that will have the capability to connect and display the Internet and our world together in real time.
Many heated discussions will occur about privacy issues for businesses and individuals; should the functionality of the glasses discussed work as well Anthony presents in his article. The glasses combine the Borg with Big Brother in many ways by tracking both the individual and the stimulus that the individual receives. First adapters will be sure to embrace the glasses and we will learn from this group. Stepping back from privacy issues the glasses could prove beneficial to emergency responders and other industries that could greatly benefit from real time information.
Thinking of the possibilities and ramifications is both intimidating and exciting. Time will tell if this technology has the power to change how we live and interact with each other.
