January 27, 2021 Update
At times my writing seems backward, as a book title appears in a poem or a passing thought. The group of words become a lighthouse providing guidance on where I need to go. In 2019, my son and I drove to Calfornia and one of the stops along the way was Barstow. I kept thinking, 1300 Miles to Barstow, as a book title or country song. Something about the phrase just stuck.
For now, I am using the title as a place holder for a lyric book. About 20% of the poetry I write can be converted into a song.
Along with this update, I shifted to first-person when discussing my books. I believe as a fellow reader, reading from the author directly makes a difference.
