April 7, 2020, Book Update
For some reason, I always title my books first and then write. Titles are my lighthouse that provides guidance during the writing process. Last summer, my son and I drove from Dallas, Texas to Watsonville, California in about 36 hours. We stopped in Barstow, California and took a break when it was my turn to drive, I thought about the miles and how 1300 Miles to Barstow California would be a great title for a book.
My original plan for the book was to write about our trip, then to write about life as a writer, and now, the book has evolved to become half poetry, short stories, and insights gained from the trip. I discovered while driving hundreds and thousands of miles, I’m at my best writing poetry, lyrics, and sharing insights that I observe.
Lately, I have been writing more about the experience of COVID-19 with the goal of completing the manuscript by Summer.
